Post 5 times a week. Stay visible. Don't disappear — or people will forget you.
So you do it. You show up consistently. You post regularly. You stay visible.
And... nothing happens.
Here's what I've learned after 30 years in sales and 2,000+ sales conversations:
Posting consistently doesn't create sales. Having sales conversations does.
And most business owners are using content as a way to avoid the actual sales activity that creates revenue.
The Consistency That Actually Creates Sales
Let me be very specific about what I mean.
What Content Consistency Looks Like
Consistency in posting might look like:
- Sharing content 5 times a week
- Writing captions and hoping people will reach out
- Waiting for engagement to turn into sales calls
- Staying "visible" but not actually inviting conversations
What Sales Activity Consistency Looks Like
Consistency in sales activity looks like:
- Reaching out to 3-5 warm leads every day
- Following up when someone says "let me think about it"
- Inviting people to have a conversation (not waiting for them to book your link)
- Generating 3-5 actual meaningful conversations per week
- Booking 3 sales calls from those conversations
One creates the feeling of productivity.
The other creates revenue.
Where This Shows Up Most in Business Owners
I see this pattern with the business owners I work with:
Someone posts regularly. Gets decent engagement. Has people saving their content.
But when I ask: "How many sales conversations did you have this week?"
The answer is usually zero. Or one. Maybe two if they've had a good week.
The Real Disconnect
And that's the disconnect.
Content creates visibility. Sales conversations create clients.
You need both. But if you're only doing one, you're missing the activity that actually converts.
Why We Hide Behind Posting Content
Here's the uncomfortable truth:
Posting feels safer than reaching out.
Sales Avoidance in Action
It's easier to:
- Share a post and hope someone will DM you
- Wait for your calendar link to be booked
- Tell yourself "I'm building trust" while avoiding actual sales conversations
Than it is to:
- Message someone directly and invite a conversation
- Follow up with a lead who went quiet
- Ask for the sale on a call
That's not a content strategy. That's sales avoidance.
And I say that with compassion — because I've seen it in hundreds of business owners. Talented people. Proven offers. Just... not having enough of the right conversations.
What Consistency in Sales Actually Means
If you want sales to feel less random and more predictable, here's what to be consistent with:
1. Consistent Daily Outreach to Warm Leads
Not cold DMing strangers. Not posting and hoping.
Actively reaching out to people who:
- Already know you
- Have engaged with your content
- Inquired but didn't book
- Are past clients or referral sources
How often? 3-5 people every day.
That's 15-25 people per week. Which generates 3-5 actual conversations. Which leads to 1-3 sales calls booked.
That's your pipeline.
2. Consistent Follow-Up
When someone says "let me think about it" or "not right now" — you actually follow up.
Not because you're pushy. Because you're leading the conversation with clarity.
Most sales happen in the follow-up. But most business owners stop after the first message.
3. Consistent Sales Conversations
If you're not having at least 5 conversations per week (that could turn into sales calls), you're not generating enough opportunities.
And no — posting 5 times a week is not a substitute for 3-5 actual conversations.
4. Consistent Tracking
You can't improve what you don't measure.
- Who did you reach out to today?
- Who responded?
- Who needs a follow-up?
- Who booked a call?
If you're not tracking it, you're guessing. And guessing doesn't create consistent revenue.
The Maths That Creates Predictable Sales
Here's what this looks like in practice:
Daily Activity:
- Reach out to 3-5 warm leads per day
- Follow up with anyone who responded but didn't book
- Track who you contacted and what happened
Weekly Results:
- 15-25 people contacted
- 3-5 conversations generated (20-30% response rate)
- 1-3 sales calls booked from those conversations
Monthly Outcome:
- 60-100 people contacted
- 12-20 conversations
- 4-12 sales calls
- 2-12 new clients (depending on your close rate and offer)
That's how you create predictable revenue.
Not by posting more. By reaching out more.
The Shift: From Passive to Active Selling
Here's what this shift looks like in practice:
Before (Passive Selling):
- Post content regularly
- Hope people will reach out
- Wait for your calendar link to be booked
- Wonder why nothing's happening
After (Active Selling):
- Post content when it makes sense (but don't rely on it for sales)
- Reach out to 3-5 warm leads every day
- Invite conversations directly
- Follow up confidently
- Track everything so you know what's working
The second approach is what creates predictable revenue.
But What About "Feeling Forced"?
I know what you might be thinking: "But I don't want to be pushy. I want sales to feel natural."
I get it. I teach aligned selling — not pressure tactics.
What Aligned Selling Actually Is
But here's the thing: waiting for people to come to you isn't aligned. It's passive.
Aligned selling is:
- Being confident enough to start a conversation
- Inviting people to take the next step
- Following up with clarity (not desperation)
- Making it easy for someone to say yes or no
That's not pushy. That's leadership.
And it only feels uncomfortable because you're not doing it consistently enough yet.
What to Do Instead of Posting 5 Times a Week
If you've been relying on content to create sales, here's what to shift:
This Week:
- Identify 15-25 warm leads (people who already know you)
- Reach out to 3-5 of them each day with a genuine message
- Invite a conversation (not a "let me know if you're interested" — an actual invitation)
- Track who responds and follow up
- Aim for 3-5 conversations by the end of the week
This Month:
- Make 3-5 daily outreach messages part of your routine
- Aim for 12-20 sales conversations total
- Book 4-8 sales calls from those conversations
- Follow up with anyone who said "not right now"
This Quarter:
- Build a simple system for tracking outreach and follow-ups
- Make active selling part of your daily rhythm (15-20 minutes per day)
- Measure what's working and refine
- Stop waiting for people to book your link — invite them directly
You Don't Need Perfect Content. You Need Conversations.
Content matters. Visibility matters. Building trust matters.
But none of it creates sales if you're not having conversations.
The Formula for Consistent Revenue
And the fastest way to have more conversations is to stop waiting for them and start creating them.
- 3-5 messages per day
- 3-5 conversations per week
- 1-3 sales calls booked
That's what active selling is. That's what creates consistent revenue.
Not posting 5 times a week. Reaching out to 3-5 people every day.
